SUDAN GOLD managed a 45 kg gold shipment from Ghana’s Ashanti Region to Hamburg, reconciling a 0.31% purity variance between field XRF and lab fire assay before export—ensuring full acceptance by the refinery on arrival.
Challenge
A German refinery rejected initial assay data due to a 0.31% discrepancy between SUDAN GOLD’s field XRF reading and the buyer’s expected fire assay result. The contract required ±0.25% tolerance; shipment was at risk of cancellation.
Solution
We re-sampled the batch in Obuasi under dual custody, sent duplicates to Bureau Veritas Accra and an independent Johannesburg lab, and shared both reports with the buyer. The average confirmed 99.58% purity within revised tolerance. Shipment proceeded with updated pricing and full transparency
